ABC LANES EAST
Harrisburg, PA
|
When a fire
destroyed ABC Lanes East on April 4, 2007, the owners’ first
priority was to rebuild as quickly as possible. The thirty-two
loan facility was originally constructed in 1958. The owners
realized the potential a new building offered; over the past 50
years the bowling business model had evolved, as well as building,
energy, and accessibility standards.
In order to reopen as quickly
as possible, the building was designed with the design-build
methodology. SGS was retained as the design firm two days after
the fire. Paul Witmer served as the construction consultant, and
R.S. Mowery & Sons, Inc. was retained as the general contractor. |
|
Construction started three months after the fire. The new
facility was open for business December 17, 2007.
The facility is on one level, providing customer and employee
accessibility to all services. Restrooms and larger locker areas
were incorporated at both ends of the center. The center includes
a larger kitchen and snack bar area with expanded menu.
The concourse and bowler areas were expanded, removing all columns
in the bowling area to provide a more open feel and ease of travel
through and around seating in the bowling area.
The 32 lane center includes Brunswick GSX pinsetters, Vector
scoring systems, Vector Plus POS and back office network, and the
Brunswick Entertainment Network. Forty-eight flat screen monitors
plan the center; 32 for scoring and 16 for televisions.
