The new facility for the St. Margaret Mary

Catholic Church replaces the existing facility

that was constructed in 1948. The new

facility seats 800 parishioners with expansion

potential to 1,000. Features from the old

church, including stained glass windows and

Stations of the Cross, have been

incorporated into the new church building.
 

A 2,000 square foot Narthex is used as a

place to gather before and after services as

well as an area to be used for social

functions.


   

Throughout the design process, LEED and USGBC guidelines for sustainable and energy efficient design were followed. The church was designed to become an intricate part of the existing 600 home community which will surround it. The site work includes a construction activity pollution prevention plan; a balanced site with no import or export of fill; native landscaping; dark sky parking and building lighting; landscaping in parking lots to reduce heat island effect; zero site light spillage onto neighboring properties, and storm water swales to promote infiltration. 

Many other sustainable and energy conservation elements have been incorporated into the building and site design.
